Getting into the narrative in Athenaze, and really enjoying myself. Such a good book, grateful to those who made it. And keep being amazed that the pedagogical resources for ancient Greek and Latin are better than for many modern languages...

Why isn't there tons of audiobooks and cool videos of classics read in modern Greek? Why are all the textbooks from foreigners from England, Spain and Italy? Where's the Athenaze made in Greece? The free online courses? The "visit Crete and learn ancient Greek"...

It was fun and bizarre. For 2 hours, we spoke only Latin - I didn't even know the person next to me was Swedish until the end of the session. We read from Pugio Bruti, and then Plautus - discussing words, meanings, stories all in Latin. The facilitator was wonderful.

But I felt a bit like a Naturkind straight out of the Schwarzwald - I understood pretty much perfectly every single word that was said, but I couldn't speak much, and once they got into discussing ablative and passive and so on, it was like another planet...

I ordered Athenaze in February 2023 (just checked), had studied modern Greek for about 6 months before that. All self study, mostly Italian Athenaze.
